Many months ago, the vice president of Mission First Tactical sent me a box of review supplies and included a few additional items because he wanted some feedback.

One was MFT’s Glock 43x/48 IWB Appendix holster. I have used several Mission First tactical holsters in the past and felt I knew what to expect. There’s one problem. I still didn’t have the Glock 43x, which I had wanted for a long time. Having accumulated this and a few other G43x review products, I took the plunge and traded in my beloved Glock 19. In the name of science!

The MFT IWB-A has a “minimalist” design, but that doesn’t mean it has fewer features. Here’s the technical breakdown:

Claw to minimize printing (right-handed shooters only) Appendix – inside waistband IWB Ambidextrous – can be worn with either right or left hand 1 1/2” belt clip included Ideal for concealed carry Adjustable cant 0- 20 Degrees Audible Passive Retention Superior 0.08 Voltaron Material Laser CAD for a perfect fit, smooth retraction, sweat guard quality screws with less wear Designs, Rivets and Attachments Engraved for RMR (Reflex Red Dot Sight) Tall Sight Channel – Open Muzzle Hand Shaped, Trimmed, Assembled and Buffed Custom Patterns and Colors – 2 Week Delivery Made in the USA in an MFT Facility Lifetime Warranty

OK, this is a long list for small materials weighing less than a few ounces. One of the features that sets MFT’s holster apart from many other holsters is the use of The CLAW. This is a little material twist that uses the inside waistband to kick the gun handle towards your body. It takes up a little more space inside the pants, but it makes carrying the appendix more successful.

The MFT holster easily slips inside your waistband and is held in place with a belt clip. This method is simple and suitable for 1.5 inch belts. Being able to adjust the cant by 20 degrees is very nice. Given the wide variety of shapes and sizes, some degree of adjustability is an important feature when involving humans. It doesn’t take long to quickly adjust to suit your drawing angle.

While MFT holsters are “easy all day” to wear, they are very difficult to get started. Typically, I slip the holster into place, slide the handgun in, and head home. This minimalist design requires you to holster your gun before placing the holster in place. MFT states that if you must holster your handgun, you should always remove the holster, return the gun to its original position, and then replace the holster. There is no need to re-holster while wearing the Minimalist. For the first “gear up” of the day, it’s really no big deal. Are you practicing your draws at the practice range? Although it is quite time consuming, it is clearly well worth it. I can imagine several scenarios where a quick reholster would be advantageous, but the likelihood of it being a problem is determined by each shooter.

Here are some practice draws with the MFT holster. Yes, I missed one shot. No, I won’t edit it.

At the end of the day, there are only three questions to ask about a holster.

Is it comfortable? yes! . Are you hiding it well? absolutely. Can I draw it quickly? Definitely.

I don’t find it faster or slower than other concealment holsters I wear on a daily basis. MFT has a simple and effective little piece of equipment that is well worth your time to check out. MFT’s G43x/48 IWB holster has a MSRP of $40.00.
