ICE Reports Major Immigration Enforcement Actions During First 100 Days of Trump’s Second Term
In a recent announcement, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency detailed its immigration enforcement activities during the initial 100 days of President Donald Trump’s second term. The agency reported a total of 66,463 arrests of illegal immigrants and the removal of 65,682 individuals from the country.
Key Arrest Statistics
- Approximately 75% of those arrested had criminal accusations or convictions.
- Included in these arrests were 2,288 gang members, affiliated with organizations such as MS-13, Tren de Aragua, and others that have now been designated as foreign terrorist organizations.
- Among those apprehended, 1,329 faced charges or convictions related to sex offenses, and 498 were accused or convicted of murder.
Other significant statistics from the arrests included over 9,639 recorded assaults, 6,398 driving while intoxicated (DWI) offenses, and 1,479 weapon-related offenses.
Collaboration with Local Law Enforcement
ICE has leveraged partnerships with local and state law enforcement through the 287(g) Program, which empowers local authorities to enforce federal immigration laws. Currently, the agency maintains nearly 600 agreements with various law enforcement agencies nationwide, and since January 20, 444 new agreements have been signed.
ICE acting director Todd M. Lyons emphasized the role of these collaborations, stating, “The brave men and women of ICE protect our families, friends, and neighbors by removing public safety and national security threats from our communities.”
Operational Highlights

ICE has also focused on worksite enforcement to protect U.S. businesses, resulting in over 1,000 arrests of illegal alien workers and proposing fines exceeding $1 million against businesses that employ undocumented individuals.
Broader Impact on Immigration Enforcement
While these enforcement actions demonstrate increased activity, the number of deportations still represents only 0.59% of the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants residing in the United States. Despite the high volume of arrests, illegal crossings have reportedly decreased to levels comparable to the 1960s, accompanied by a 95% reduction in illegal immigrant encounters.
ICE deputy director Madison D. Sheahan pointed to the effectiveness of these actions, stating, “This agency has set the bar on arrests and removals while upholding its national security mission.”

Conclusion
ICE’s recent announcement highlights a concerted effort in enforcing immigration laws through robust arrest operations and collaboration with local law enforcement. The implications of these actions will continue to unfold as the agency seeks to manage the complexities of immigration policy under the current administration.
