FBI Disrupts Mass Shooting Plot Linked to ISIS at Military Base
Director Kash Patel’s Firm Stance
FBI Director Kash Patel recently issued a strong warning regarding threats aimed at the U.S. military, affirming that individuals engaged in such conspiracies will face severe legal consequences. “Let this be a warning: Anyone who targets our military or conspires with foreign terrorist organizations will be found, stopped, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Patel stated in an interview with Fox News Digital.
Details of the Foiled Attack
The warning follows the arrest of Ammar Abdulmajid-Mohamed Said, a former member of the Michigan Army National Guard, aged 19, who was allegedly involved in planning a mass shooting at the U.S. Army’s Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) center in Warren, Michigan.
Said was taken into custody after reportedly launching a drone in support of the attack and advising an undercover FBI agent on tactical preparations, including ensuring all participants had sufficient ammunition.
Charges Against the Suspect
Said faces serious charges, including attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and distributing information about destructive devices. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison.
Details of the Investigation
In April, undercover officers interacted with Said, promoting a plot that was purportedly coordinated with ISIS. He allegedly aided the attack’s planning by providing specialized ammunition, training on weapons, and operational reconnaissance, which included flying a drone over the target location.
Reports indicate that Said began his communications with an undercover agent around June 2024, believing him to be a fellow supporter of ISIS. He enlisted in the Michigan Army National Guard in September 2022 but was discharged in December 2024.
FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force Efforts
The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is leading the investigation into this case. Director Patel expressed appreciation for the agents and intelligence teams, stating, “Our agents, intelligence teams, and partners acted quickly — and they saved lives.” He commended their commitment to safeguarding American citizens.
