However, the bill has faced criticism from welfare advocates and Democratic lawmakers, who argue that it could have adverse effects on Florida’s most vulnerable populations. Critics, including House Minority Leader Evan Jenne, contend that imposing stricter work requirements could lead to an increase in poverty, homelessness, and food insecurity for families who struggle to find stable employment. The Florida League of Women Voters has also expressed concern that the measure could disproportionately affect women and children, many of whom rely on public assistance for basic needs.
